Diane Gonzalez, secretary of the East Ramapo TA, is a veteran science teacher at Chestnut Ridge Middle School who believes that part of her job is to instill social justice values in her students.
And, to do that, she goes far beyond the walls of her classroom. Diane is a recognized expert in anti-bullying campaigns. She has accompanied other NYSUT members and the New York State Labor-Religion Committee to Mexico to witness first-hand how international economic policies affect some of the world’s poorest regions. She volunteers, trains, testifies and advocates for issues of social justice, in her school district and her community.
She breaks down stereotypes.
Diane was recently featured in a statewide radio campaign, in which she discussed respect and tolerance. Hear her story
